2014 Adi swAthi – pakshirAjar uthsavam

At AzhwAr thirunagari, pakshirAjan (garudAzhwAr) thiruvavathAra (birth) uthsavam is celebrated for 10 days in the month of Adi . Utsavam starts on thiruvAdhirai and ends on swAthi. This year the uthsavam is scheduled to happen from July 25th to August 3rd. As seen in most dhivya dhEsams in south (pANdiya nAdu), pakshirAjar sannidhi is located in the madhiL (fort) in one of the corners – here it is in the North East corner.

uthsavam details:

  • First 9 days – Morning thirumanjanam, alankAram. Evening thiruvArAdhanam, thiruvAimozhi gOshti (1 centum per day) and sARRumuRai.
  • 10th Day – Adi swAthi
    • Morning
      • thirumanjanam (only with thIrtham/water) – anyone who have had got pancha samskAram can bring thIrtham from thAmirabaraNi river for thirumanjanam.
    • Evening
      • Devotees of all sections will bring milk in a pot along with variety of fruits, Honey, Sugar cane, tender-coconut water, Curd with special music band.
      • panchAmrutham will be prepared by kainkaryaparas.
      • thirumanjanam will start around 6.30 PM with milk (5 huge pots), panchAmrutham (5 huge pots), Honey, Sugarcane, tender-coconut water, Curd and Oil.
      • After this snapaNa thirumanjanam will take place around 9 PM.
      • Then thiruvAimozhi 10th centum gOshti and sARRumuRai.
      • After that Special alankAram & thruvArAdhanam  will take place.
      • Finally thruviruththam gOshti and sARRumuRai will take place around 12 midnight.
  • Every day in amrutha kalasam (a type of sweet) is offered to pakshirAjan. This is a special dish of AzhwAr thirunagari.
